Sea Launch Plans Liftoff for Tuesday

LONG BEACH - Sea Launch Co.'s oceangoing rocket platform and command ship are en route to the equatorial Pacific to launch a satellite for Dish Network Corp.

Long Beach-based Sea Launch says liftoff of the EchoStar 11 satellite is planned for Tuesday. The satellite was built by Space Systems/Loral of Palo Alto and is designed to last 15 years. It will join Englewood, Colo.-based Dish Network's fleet serving direct- broadcast satellite television customers in the U.S.

This month, Sea Launch directors also named executive vice president and chief financial officer Kjell Karlsen as president and general manager. He replaces Robert A. Peckham, who is now with the Boeing Co.
