CTDC, CMZD to Co-Develop Xiamen Bay Solar City

Posted on: Thursday, 10 July 2008, 03:00 CDT

The China Technology Development Group, a provider of solar energy products and solutions focusing on amorphous silicon thin-film technology, has signed a letter of intent with the China Merchants Zhangzhou Development Zone, to co-develop the Xiamen Bay Solar City.

The agreement was signed by Alan Li, chairman and CEO of CTDC, and Bin Wu, general manager of the China Merchants Zhangzhou Development (CMZD).

Under the terms of the letter, 100 acres within the CMZD have been designated for the construction of the solar city project, which will incorporate CTDC's current tin oxide (SnO2) production lines and its future building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) applications projects.

In addition, CMZD has agreed to co-operate with CTDC to further develop its amorphous silicon (a-Si) solar thin-film technology.

Mr Li said: "We are delighted to receive this assurance of continued strong co-operation and mutual support between CMZD and CTDC. The commitment will provide opportunities for us to further develop and expand the SnO2 production facility within the Xiamen Bay Solar City. In addition, it will allow us to better execute our expansion strategy in the broader downstream BIPV market."
