ExpressJet to End Springs Service

ExpressJet Airlines will eliminate its Colorado Springs flights as part of a bigger move to discontinue its branded service nationwide.The Houston-based carrier informed Colorado Springs officials that it would end its half- dozen daily flights to three California cities - San Diego, Ontario and Sacramento - on Sept. 2. ExpressJet still plans to handle regional flying for Continental Airlines in Colorado Springs and elsewhere.The announcement comes just over a year since ExpressJet started service in the Springs.Colorado Springs Airport officials are determining the impact of ExpressJet's move but said they don't expect "long-term negative effect from a financial perspective."Originally published by Chris Walsh, Rocky Mountain News.
