The Empire District Electric Company Schedules Conference Call/Webcast

The Empire District Electric Company (NYSE:EDE) will hold its quarterly conference call to discuss the results for the second quarter and twelve months ended June 30, 2008 on Friday, July 25, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time (12:00 p.m. Central). The conference call will follow the Company's earnings news release, which will be available on Thursday, July 24, 2008.

Participants in the call should dial 800-218-8862. A replay of the call will be available for two weeks by dialing 800-405-2236 and entering the passcode 11117048#.

A live webcast of the call can be accessed via the Internet on Empire's web site at www.empiredistrict.com. The webcast will be available for replay for one year.
