Airport on Display at International Air Show

Jul. 11--PLATTSBURGH -- Plattsburgh International Airport will be on display at the upcoming Farnborough International Air Show.
Representatives of the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce will be at the show July 12 to 20 to market the airport.
Farnborough is the largest aviation and aerospace show in the world, with more than 1,500 exhibits and 140,000-plus people expected to attend.
Chamber President Garry Douglas said an aggressive marketing program has led to broad awareness of the airport in the United States and Canada. That resulted in the decision to start marketing the airport globally.
"As we position ourselves as Montreal's U.S. airport and a new option for aerospace companies in need of locations in North America, we must build awareness and relationships over time.
"While huge in some respects, we've learned that the aviation and aerospace sector is also a close-knit and very interconnected community," Douglas said. "They need to see you over time to know that you are serious, and the seeds of awareness planted today may bring a return several years from now when a company finally needs what we have."
The exhibit will be part of a six-member New York state display supported by Empire State Development.
The chamber is looking forward to a number of networking opportunities.
"Some of our Montreal aerospace friends have facilitated a couple of very interesting meetings for us while we are there, and I know we'll be returning with a large number of valuable new contacts for the future," Douglas said.
The chamber exhibit will be Booth 22 in Hall 3 in the U.S. Pavilion.
