World Bank Gives Funds to Ensure Food Security, Energy Efficiency in Tajikistan

Today another three grant agreements were signed between World Bank representatives and the leadership of the Tajik Finance Ministry as part of the mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and the bank.
The first agreement worth 5m dollars is aimed at ensuring food security and at importing seeds. It will be implemented by mid 2010.
According to the bilateral agreement, additional funds worth 6m dollars were also channelled into the existing project on development of regional public medical service.
The third project is aimed at developing the energy sector. The implementation of this project will make it possible to eliminate the shortage of electricity and heating in the country if needed.
