MESQUITE, Texas, July 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In a series of educational forums provided by Congressman Jeb Hensarling, residents of the Lakewood and Mesquite areas were invited to come out and learn about and discuss different topics taking place within the electricity, natural gas and oil markets. On hand were three REPs as well as Atmos Energy. Texas Power was there to give energy saving tips as well as introduce the partnership with other local businesses to help save customers money.

Texas Power is always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to save energy. At these specific forums, they chose to talk about additions to homes that could lower usage. WaterFurnace is a brand of thermal water-heaters that utilize the Earth's natural heat in order to heat water and other areas of the home. Texas Power has teamed up with WaterFurnace's local installer, Advent Air, to create one part of the incentive program that not only provides a discount to the customer but will also save them money in the future. Advanced Technology is an installer of the Q Radiant Barrier which is a higher quality insulator then the common pink insulation as well as the spray on version which usually has a rating in the R range while Advanced Technology uses Q rated insulation which is more effective. Texas Power also partners with Advanced Technology to save their customers money in more ways than one. Texas Power partners with these companies along with others from the Texas Home Improvement radio show. It is a home repair call-in radio show that teams up with companies that make homes more efficient for the well being of its listening audience.
Memorable Moments
Undoubtedly, the most memorable moment of the night is when, ironically enough, the power went out at the electricity forum taking place in Mesquite. The loss of power certainly had no effect on those who were there to take in information as well as have their voices heard on a topic of such intensity as energy in America. As the room grew hotter from the lack of power it also heated up from the tempers that were flaring. Several attendees, politely yet firmly, let their opinions be known on the situation they are in because of the volatility of the gas and oil markets. Most of the comments seemed to be aimed toward the oil side. The conversation then turned from what solutions the oil industry needed to how those solutions could aid the natural gas market as well. Perhaps the most important thing that came out of both meetings is that those residents could see the REPs face to face. Rona Davis, the Marketing and Advertising Director for Texas Power let her voice sound her concern for those customers feeling the pinch, as well as let her face show genuine respect for what they are going through. Mrs. Davis had this to say when asked about the two forums. "I always welcome an opportunity to speak with the public about our industry. While this is an incredibly intense time, I find joy in meeting with people and letting them see the human side of 'evil electricity companies.' We are all in this together, we are all paying these horrendous rates and we are all looking for solutions. Our partnership with the Texas Home Improvement Hour radio show, as well as the THI team has given us a great platform to voice these issues as well as brainstorm solutions and it is a blessing when I can share this team with a live audience."
