Potomac Edison Must Provide More Information to Virginia Regulators

Allegheny Energy Inc.’s Potomac Edison Co. power distribution unit must provide more information to Virginia regulators so new electric rates can be set for 2008 and 2009.

In a recent decision, the Virginia State Corporation Commission told Potomac that it requires additional evidence and legal arguments. Earlier this year, the commission granted Potomac a $73 million interim rate increase for its 100,000 Virginia customers for the 12-month period beginning July 1.

Potomac provides power to 475,000 customers in Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
