Ukraine’s Govt Ordered to Switch Odesy-Bordy Pipeline to Reverse Mode Before End of Year
KYIV. July 28 (Interfax) – Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council has ordered exhaustive measures to be taken to switch the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline to a reverse mode before the end of the year, first deputy presidential chief of staff Oleksandr Shlapak said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
“The National Security and Defense Council made the following the decision: the Cabinet must do all it can to get the pipeline operating in a reverse mode before the end of 2008,” Shlapak said.
The work the government has been doing up until now to implement the Odesa-Brody project was unsatisfactory, he said.
The government had been instructed to accept and assess before November 1 all agreements reached on the project, Shlapak said. “They must be assessed or accepted, or additional oil suppliers must be found, who would agree to work in this mode,” he said.
