Jul. 29–After 10 years at West Texas A&M University, media-relations specialist Joe Wyatt will transfer to a similar job at Amarillo College this fall.
Wyatt will join AC’s staff as communications coordinator. He begins Sept. 2.
“It has been a great privilege and joy working on behalf of my alma mater,” said Wyatt, a 1987 graduate of WT.
“However, I’m tremendously honored to be chosen to champion the many virtues of Amarillo College,” he said.
At AC, Wyatt primarily will coordinate advertising campaigns and oversee media relations.
“Joe is a great writer, and he has a lot of contacts in the media,” said Ellen Green, dean of communication and marketing at AC.
“He also was familiar with higher education, and that really put him over the top.”
Wyatt came to WT in 1998 after working at the Amarillo Globe-News.
Wyatt is the second person on staff in WT’s department of communication and marketing services to leave the university this summer.
Dana Olmstead, director of the department, retired in June.
WT has begun searching for replacements for both positions, said WT president J. Patrick O’Brien.
