Pampa Energia subsidiary Central Termica Guemes has inaugurated its $65 million, 100MW GE LMS-100 gas-fired turbogenerator power plant, which will operate under Argentina's Energy Plus program.
The turbogenerator comprises an aeroderivative, gas-fired turbine with an efficiency of 43% that is expected to increase Central Termica Guemes's installed capacity by nearly 40% to 361MW.
The company expects to complete technical trials in August 2008 and begin commercial operations in September 2008.
With this new electricity generating facility, Pampa completes the first of its expansion projects, under which it is expected to add 400MW of generation capacity for a total investment of $410 million.
