IHS Selects Alcatel-Lucent’s Communications Solutions
LGS, a subsidiary of Alcatel-Lucent, engaged in serving the US government community, and its business partner Trans-Tel Central, have announced that the Indian Health Service has selected Alcatel-Lucent’s communications solutions for a number of communications upgrade projects.
The Oklahoma City Area Indian Health Service has implemented an area-wide initiative to connect the federally controlled Indian hospitals and clinics in the region with VoIP to streamline services, centralize management, and reduce overall communications costs.
The projects completed in 2008 by LGS and Trans-Tel Central include 10 locations where upgrades to Indian Health Service (IHS) telecommunications infrastructures reduced long-distances charges between sites and provides a common four-digit dialing directory.
IHS, an agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives with the goal to raise their health status.
