Airport Plea on Liquid Ban

August 2, 2008

UP TO 10 binbags full of baked beans, peanut butter, brown sauce, curries, mango chutney, suncream and insect repellent are confiscated every day from airport passengers in Liverpool.

Almost two years after security restrictions on hand luggage were brought in, passengers are still either unsure or unaware of the restrictions.

As thousands of holidaymakers flock abroad airports are pleading with passengers to keep to the limits for liquids set following an alleged plot to blow-up transatlantic passenger jets in August 2006.

Liquids, gels and aerosols are only allowed in individual containers of 100ml in cabin baggage.
