Phones Cut Off As BT Cable Stolen
METAL thieves have stolen underground telephone cables – leaving 150 British Telecom customers in the Midlands without phone and internet connections.
The copper-lined wires were ripped out in the Beaudesert Park and Cannock Wood area on the Cannock/Lichfield border in Staffordshire.
Last night, BT confirmed that the incident was among a growing number of cable thefts reported to police.
Spokeswoman Emma Tenant added: “Around 150 people are affected. We will be working throughout the weekend to ensure the full service for everyone affected is back up and running.”
