Tokyo, Aug. 4 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Sojitz Corp. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said Monday they will supply solar power panels to a South Korean firm.

The panels, ordered by South Korean solar power system integrator Taihan Techren Co., will be a core part of a solar power system being built under a project in the eastern South Korean city of Yeongju.

The 3-megawatt system will be completed by the end of September and will start power generation in October. The capacity will be enough to serve 1,000 standard households.

The value of the order, including a high-performance inverter to be supplied by a different company, is 1.5 billion yen.

In South Korea, demand for solar power systems is expected to grow further thanks to government subsidies for solar power generation. Sojitz will consider investing in solar power businesses in the country.

The products to be supplied to Taihan Techren are next- generation models with only one-100th of the silicon materials used in conventional panels.END
