The Vegetable-Oil Alternative
By Aaron Brachfeld
One liquid fuel in particular is not only less expensive than gasoline but less toxic to the environment: straight vegetable oil.* Having provided a ready source of liquid fuel to humanity for millennia, vegetable oil in the 21st century can legally power all diesel engines and can be produced by Colorado farmers (even with the high price of oil crops) for less than $2 per gallon.* SVO fuel enjoys negative carbon gains and is easy to produce.*
