Aug. 6–Elba police said Tuesday that prominent businessman, Pete Cash, 47, who has been missing since Monday, July 28, was spotted that same day in Vicksburg, Miss.
Police Chief Freddie Hanchey said in a press release that Elba police followed up on a tip that someone matching Cash’s description had purchased a used 1998 Chevrolet S-10 extended cab pick-up truck in Vicksburg on the day he was last seen.
Two officers, Leslie Hussey of Elba’s District Drug Task Force and Patrick Norris of the District Attorney’s office traveled to Vicksburg Monday evening and Tuesday morning of this week and confirmed that Cash had indeed purchased the truck and paid for it in cash.
Cash’s silver 2007 Chevy Tahoe was found abandoned in a Vicksburg parking lot. Officers are planning to drive the vehicle back to Elba after they meet with Mississippi authorites.
Cash is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 195 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He is driving a 1998 Chevy S-10 with metallic, dark copper paint over pewter metallic paint, and the vehicle had a copper camper shell on it when it left the seller’s lot. Chief Hanchey urged the public to contact the Elba Police Department with any additional information at 334-897-2555.
When contacted early Tuesday evening, a spokesperson in Hanchey’s office said they “would not be releasing any more information at this time.”
