An explosion has taken place on the Erzincan-Refahiye section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in Turkey.
Despite the explosion on the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan oil pipeline, oil production has not been suspended on the Azari-Ciraq-Gunasli oil platform [oil produced on Azerbaijan's offshore deposit is being delivered to Turkey's Mediterranean port of Ceyhan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline], Novosti- Azerbaydzhan quoted the head of the press service of BP Azerbaijan, Tamam Bayatli, as saying.
“In line with the work schedule of the pipeline, the section [of the pipeline] where the explosion took place was automatically blocked and oil transportation was suspended. No-one was injured in the explosion. Botas, a company that operates the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, is currently working to restore the operation of the pipeline,” Bayatli said.
It is expected that the pipeline’s working regime will be restored and normalized in the next few hours, she added.
