Globecomm Receives $9 Million Infrastructure Contract From GCI

Globecomm Systems, a provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, has won an infrastructure contract from General Communication, an Alaska-based company providing voice, video and data communication services, valued at $9 million.
Previously, Globecomm announced a contract with General Communication (GCI) valued at $20.7 million to provide wireless phone services to 200 rural villages throughout Alaska.
Pursuant to this contract, Globecomm will provide 69 shelters to be utilized in concert with the installation of certain sites under the previously announced contract. Each of the shelters will be outfitted with DC power restoral systems. 44 of the shelters will be outfitted with C-Band satellite subsystems with the remaining 25 being outfitted to support terrestrial communications.
