DETROIT, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ — From Amphibville at the Detroit Zoo to the MGM Grand Detroit, Aluminum Supply Company (ASCO) of Detroit has supplied a ton of aluminum building products around Michigan, surrounding states and Canada for the past 60 years.

The company is planning a three-day celebration Aug. 12, 13 and 14 from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at its facility located at 14359 Meyers Road in Detroit. The celebration will include facility tours, product demonstrations and refreshments.

ASCO was founded by Robert Marshall in 1948. Brothers Paul and Rex Marshall joined him shortly thereafter. The original concept was to create a one-stop wholesale depot for aluminum building products and accessories. ASCO quickly became known as the premier supplier of architectural building products. The company grew and prospered under the leadership of Rex Marshall until 1995 when the second generation of leadership took over. Over the years all of Rex’s 12 children have worked in the business and helped build a solid foundation. Today, Nancy Marshall serves as President and runs the company with sisters Amy Marshall and Elizabeth Larke. Sisters Kerry LaPointe, Phyllis Clevenger, and Cynthia Dawson also serve on the board of directors.

Throughout the years ASCO has adapted and evolved, continually striving to offer diverse products. Some of ASCO’s recent projects have included Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market in Rochester, Mich., Acheson Ventures Office Building in Port Huron, Mich. and Ford Motor Company Displays at the North American International Auto Show.

Nancy Marshall said, “Celebrating this milestone is a tremendous honor for our family. A lot of dedication, teamwork and love have gone into making this company a success. We are all proud of our company’s impact throughout our 60 year history here in Detroit.”

The business has captured many accomplishments. In 2006 ASCO was named an Inner City 100 company by Inc. Magazine. The company was named the National Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2007. The same year, President Nancy Marshall was named Enterprising Women Magazine’s Enterprising Woman of the Year.
