Aug. 6--DUBAI BUYS 20 PERCENT CIRQUE STAKE: Istithmar World, part of Dubai World, and Nakheel have purchased a 20 percent stake in Cirque du Soleil. This follows an announcement earlier this year that Nakheel and Cirque du Soleil had agreed a 15-year partnership to develop a permanent show on the Palm Jumeirah, the first outside of the US and the Far East.
EMIRATES PALACE OFFERS $1M STAY: The Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Palace hotel has applied to the Guiness Book of Records after putting together one of the most expensive packages on record. For $1m guests will be given a seven night stay, first class return flights and have a Maybach at their disposal. The package includes Emirates Palace Sunset and Desert Island Tour, gifts including Emirates Palace Gold Champagne, the rarest pearls in the world from Robert Wang and a selection from Holland and Holland Sporting Guns, as well as daily spa treatments.
