Some of the nation’s top energy experts and economists are slated to headline the seventh annual Global Market Trends Conference next month in Chicago, where they will lead three days of seminars and discussions on the most important emerging trends in technology today–alternative energy sources, green building, and the need for energy efficiency in a world that’s placing increasing demand on our natural resources.

Topics to be explored include how the “solar revolution” is transforming the global energy industry; how renewable energy will change the way we live; how the United States and other countries are rapidly adopting green building practices; and how these trends, coupled with market shifts in the housing and oil industries, promise to reshape economies throughout the world.

This annual global summit draws an audience of industry leaders, scientists and professional association members eager to learn more about the issues and new technologies that will directly impact their businesses in the near future.

This year’s conference includes a series of powerful educational seminars. The three-day event will be held Sept. 10-12 at the Sheraton Gateway Suites, located near Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

The conference will open with a Hedging Workshop led by John Peiser of the Newedge Group.

All of the invited speakers are recognized experts, authors and industry notables in their fields. They include: Robert Shapiro, former U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs; Mark Hopkins, director of international energy efficiency for the United Nations Foundation; Travis Bradford, president of the Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development; and Jerry Yudelson, a founder of today’s green building movement and president of Yudelson Associates LLC.

Also giving presentations are Kateri Callahan, president of the Alliance to Save Energy; Howard Learner, president and executive director of the Environmental Law & Policy Center, Philip Nichols, Ph.D., associate professor of legal studies and business ethics at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania; Ernie Goss, Ph.D., professor of economics at Creighton University; and Kenneth Simonson, chief economist for the Associated General Contractors of America.

This year’s conference is presented by the Copper Development Association along with the Copper & Brass Fabricators Council, American Copper Council, Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society and PMI. Co-sponsors of the 2008 Global Market Trends Conference include the American Metal Market and the Newedge Group.
