Kazakhstan Ups Oil Production 5.6%, Gas 13.1% in 7 Mths
ASTANA. Aug 6 (Interfax) – Kazakhstan increased oil and gas condensate production 5.6% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2008 to 41.138 million tonnes, a government official told Interfax.
Condensate production fell, by 7.1% to 3.708 million tonnes.
KazMunayGas, the national oil and gas company, produced 5.54 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate in the seven months, up 0.6% year-on-year.
Companies partly owned by KazMunayGas produced 16.942 million tonnes, up 8.9%: joint ventures TengizChevrOil produced 9.829 million tonnes and KazGerMunay produced 1.817 million tonnes, up 24.8% and 4.4%, respectively; OJSC Petro Kazakhstan Kumkol Resources produced 1.863 million tonnes, down 9.8%; and JSC Turgai Petroleum produced 1.917 million tonnes, down 7.6%.
Other oil producers lifted 18.656 million tonnes of oil and condensate in the seven months, up 4.3% year-on-year: OJSC MangistauMunayGas – 3.27 million tonnes, down 1.6%; OJSC CNPC- AktobeMunayGas – 3.402 million tonnes, up 0.9%; and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) – 7.209 million tonnes, up 2.0%.
Kazakhstan produced 5.599 million tonnes of oil and condensate, including 486,902 tonnes of condensate, in July.
Gas production in Kazakhstan grew 13.1% year-on-year in the seven months to 19.741 billion cubic meters, including 11.419 bcm of natural gas, up 13.9%.
KazMunayGas produced 800.305 million cubic meters of gas in the seven months, down 2.1% from the same period of last year. Companies partly owned by KazMunayGas produced 5.701 bcm, up 15.5%, including TengizChevrOil – 4.933 bcm, up 20.5%. Other companies produced 13.24 bcm, up 13.1%, including KPO – 9.187 bcm, up 4.9%.
