Tajik Leader Meets Chinese Businessman, Visits Beijing’s Olympic Village
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has arrived in the Chinese capital of Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the 29th Summer Olympic Games, the president’s website reported on 7 August.
The report went on to say that as part of his visit to China, Emomali Rahmon held talks with the president of the ZTE (Zhongxin Telecom Equipment, China’s largest listed telecoms manufacturer) corporation in his residence in Beijing.
The Tajik president expressed satisfaction with cooperation between the ZTE corporation and Tajikistan. Thanks to assistance of this corporation Tajik specialists opened telephone exchanges in many towns and districts of Tajikistan, the report added.
The president of the ZTE corporation told the Tajik president that the corporation planned to take part in the implementation of investment projects in Tajikistan.
The head of state informed the Chinese entrepreneur about huge potential for cooperation in such fields as transport, communications, power engineering and tourism in Tajikistan.
In a separate report on the same day, the president’s website said that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon also visited the Olympic village and expressed his support for Tajik sportsmen ahead of the games.
The report added that participation of Tajik sportsmen in the 29th Olympic games is showing that Tajikistan’s position in the world is growing.
