Cut Up Over Luggage Rules

August 7, 2008

AIRPORT baggage rules are still puzzling for UK passengers, according to a survey by travel website Expedia.co.uk.

Four-fifths have had to hand over personal possessions before take-off and a third have had knives, scissors and aerosols removed from their hand luggage.

Since rules were tightened in August 2006, more than two million bottles of alcohol have been confiscated.

Expedia’s Alison Couper said: “Our research shows that travellers are still not clear about luggage rules.

“Restrictions vary from carrier to carrier and between airports.”
