Tajik Leader Back Home From China
President Emomali Rahmon has returned to Tajikistan from China, where he attended the opening ceremony of the 29th Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, the president’s website reported on 9 August.
The report also said that on the morning of 9 August, Chinese President Hu Jintao hosted a banquet, which was attended by President Emomali Rahmon and a number of presidents from the CIS.
“During two state banquets and other convenient occasions, the president of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the chairman of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Jintao, had constructive talks on bilateral and multifaceted relations between the two countries, including preparations for a regular summit of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states,” the website said.
“In the afternoon of 9 August, the Tajik head of state, Emomali Rahmon, returned to Dushanbe following his successful and fruitful visit to the city of Beijing,” the report concluded.
