Russian Company to Build Satellite for Israel

Moscow, 8 August: “Informatsionnyye sputnikovyye sistemy imeni Reshetneva” [Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems] (ISS, the town of Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Territory) and the Space- Communication Ltd, an Israeli satellite communications operator, have signed a contract in Tel Aviv on the delivery of the Amos-5 geostationary satellite communication system on the basis of the Express-1000N platform, the ISS press service has announced.
According to a report Interfax-AVN received on Friday [8 August], the contract stipulates “the development and placing into orbit of an Amos-5 satellite, the development of a ground control segment as well as providing the training of personnel and technical support”. “The Thales Alenia Space company is the subcontractor for the relay station and aerials. The joint international project is to be completed by late 2010,” the report says. [Passage omitted]
