Posted on: Tuesday, 12 August 2008, 09:01 CDT

Engineering services provider KBR has announced that a division of its services business unit, the BE&K Building Group, has been awarded a $64 million contract by Efacec Power Transformers, an affiliate of the Portugal-based Efacec Group, for the construction of a power transformer manufacturing facility at the Effingham Industrial Development Authority's industrial park in Rincon, Georgia.

Under the contract, BE&K will design and construct the new manufacturing facility that will be used by Efacec to build power transformers, including core form, shell form and mobile power substations for the US market. Work on the project began in July 2008 and is expected to conclude in August 2009.

David Zimmerman, president of KBR Services, said: "This contract allows KBR the opportunity to showcase its construction expertise to one of the newest members of the Georgia business community. We look forward to working with Efacec on this groundbreaking project and to building a continuing relationship with the company."
