German and Italian Power Companies Form Joint Venture in Romania, an Industrial Info News Alert

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- In June 2008, Germany's E.ON (OTC:EONGY) (Duesseldorf) and Italian Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) (Rome), signed a memorandum of understanding with the Romanian electricity utility Termoelectrica S.A. (Bucharest) for the construction of an 800-megawatt (MW) coal-fired steam turbine at one of its subsidiaries -- Braila Power Plant, located in the Romanian district of Chiscani. The E.ON-Enel consortium is to form a joint venture with Termoelectrica to participate as a minor stakeholder with the existing assets currently installed at the Braila Power Plant.
