Verizon Wireless Activates New Cell Site in Kentucky

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Smithland, Kentucky that expands network coverage, enabling customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls, send and receive email and text, picture and video messages, access the internet and download music, games and ring tones.

According to the company, The new cell site improves Verizon Wireless’s voice and data network coverage in Smithland and along US Route 60 in southeast Livingston County and State Road 453 and State Road 70 in southeast Livingston County.

Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed – $5.5 billion on average every year – to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $250 million of this investment has been spent in Kentucky since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $38 million in Kentucky network improvements.

We’ll continue investing in our network here in Kentucky as well as across the nation so that our customers can rely on their wireless phones everywhere they go.”
