Continental Airlines Waives Third Checked Bag Fee for Military Personnel

HOUSTON, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines today announced that effective immediately it will waive the fee for a third checked bag for active U.S. military personnel. Continental has always allowed active service members to check two bags without charge.
"We understand the special needs of our many military travelers," said Jim Compton, Continental's executive vice president marketing. "By enhancing our baggage policy in this manner, we are adding to a significant set of benefits that we offer to service personnel when they travel with us."
The new policy allows military customers on official orders to check three bags which are up to 70 pounds and 115 linear inches each at no charge. Family members traveling with or without the military customer on orders may check three bags not exceeding 70 pounds and 62 linear inches each at no charge when traveling on official business.
