Iran Awards Domestic Contractors Deal to Find Nuclear Plants’ Sites

Six domestic companies have been assigned to identify appropriate locations for new nuclear power plants across the country. According to the deputy head of the Atomic Energy Organization in power plants affairs [Ahmad Fayyazbakhsh], the companies were chosen from among 60 companies that bid in a tender.
[Ahmad Fayyazbakhsh] A contract will be given to the companies that have won the tender. According to that contract, these companies will have to identify and chose the right locations [for the power plants]. God-willing, as appropriate conditions are created the project of building nuclear plants will start based on the target set by the Majlis to generate 20,000MW of power in 20 years' time.
[Presenter] Fayyazbakhsh also commented on Iran's home-grown nuclear power plant which is expected to be built in Darkhoveyn, Khuzestan Province. He said that the power plant is at a basic design stage. He said the power plant will be built in the framework of a nine-year plan.
