Power Machines Ships First Hydro Turbine for Installation at Boguchansk HPP

Russian engineering company Power Machines has completed and shipped the first hydro turbine for installation at the Boguchansk hydro power plant in the Russian territory of Krasnoyarsk. These turbines are reportedly the largest units to have been manufactured in Russia at 155.6 tons.

The heavy cargo will be transported to the power plant site by sea, and it is expected to take 35-40 days. The length of the route is approximately 6,500km.

The transport vessel will pass through the Ladoga and Onega lakes, then through the White Sea-Baltic channel towards the White Sea, and further along the Northern Sea Route, from Yenisei to Krasnoyarsk. In Krasnoyarsk, the equipment will be reloaded to the river vessel, to deliver the equipment to the construction site at Angara.

Pursuant to project conditions, Power Machines will design, manufacture and supply nine hydro turbines and nine hydro generators with nominal output of 333MW each, for installation at the Boguchansk hydro power plant (HPP). All the equipment will be supplied to the customer by 2012. Additionally, Power Machines will ensure the installation supervision and commissioning of the equipment.
