Markey a Marked Contrast
By Bill Moorcroft
What a contrast! One candidate for the Colorado 4th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, remains in Washington grandstanding on the floor of the near empty halls of Congress about the need to drill for oil in Alaska and offshore waters of other parts of the United States. Her actions raise questions: Why does she not realize that such drilling cannot possibly affect oil prices for 10 years or so and then, maybe, only lower gasoline prices by a few pennies? Or does she know this but feels more responsible to the business concerns of oil companies than the welfare of her 4th District constituents and the rest of ordinary people in the United States?Meanwhile, the other candidate, Betsy Markey, is traveling the entire 4th District from Baca County in the southeast to Sedgwick, Weld and Larimer counties in the north, listening to residents about their personal concerns and pains over the rising costs of energy and sharing her well-thought-out, comprehensive energy plan. For me, there is a clear difference about who really cares for the people in the 4th District. That's why I'm going to vote for Betsy Markey.
