Japan July Crude Steel Output Up 1.7 Pct
Tokyo, Aug. 20 (Jiji Press)–Crude steel output in Japan rose 1.7 pct from a year before to 10,189,300 tons in July, gaining ground for the 26th straight month, the Japan Iron and Steel Federation said Wednesday.
Output from steel converters increased 1.3 pct to 7,676,000 tons, also the 26th consecutive gain.
Production at electric furnaces expanded 2.9 pct to 2,513,300 tons, growing for two months in a row.END
