Croatia Airlines has selected Rockwell Collins, a developer of communication and aviation electronic solutions, to provide its Head-up Guidance System for installation on its fleet of four Bombardier Q400 regional aircraft plus two aircraft options.

Rockwell Collins said that it offers the only head-up display for the Q400, which is the sole Category III solution offered on the aircraft and expands the operational capability of the Q400, allowing Category III approach and landing down to 600ft runway visual range (RVR), low-visibility takeoff down to 300ft RVR and lower-than-standard Category I approach minima as low as 1,600ft RVR.

Vanja Roller, executive vice president for maintenance and engineering at Croatia Airlines, said: “We have selected our new Q400′s with the Rockwell Collins Head-up Guidance System (HGS) technology. The Category III capability will allow us to avoid any cancellation or delays due to low visibility operations that are frequently present on several of our destinations during the winter season.”
