Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. Ranked 261 on Inc. 5000 List of America’s Fastest Growing Private Companies for 2008
Borrego Solar Systems, Inc., a leading designer and installer of grid-connected solar electric power systems, today announced that Inc. named the company to the distinguished Inc. 5000 list. The publication’s 27th annual list ranks the fastest growing private companies in the United States. Borrego Solar ranked 261 on the list, having grown more than 1,000 percent over the past three years. Borrego Solar also ranked 11 in the Inc. list of top energy companies — the fastest growing of this year’s categories — with energy businesses growing by a median 298 percent in the past year. The company has experienced even greater maturation in 2008 and conservatively expects to double its $30 million 2007 revenue by the end of the year.
“After being honored as part of the Inc. 5000 in 2007, we are thrilled to be part of this year’s top 500 list, an even more elite group of the nation’s top private companies. Our substantial growth — especially during the past year — is a testament not only to our dedicated employees, but also to the collective commitment to solar energy among homeowners, the business community and legislators across the U.S.,” said Aaron Hall, CEO of Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. “The Inc. 500 represents the future of American enterprise, and we are privileged to have been included alongside such promising and thriving organizations. This award honors the hard work we have achieved internally, along with invaluable contributions and ideas from our partners, customers and the national community that have made it possible for a ‘green’ company to be successful while helping to preserve the environment.”
“Our second annual Inc. 5000 continues the most ambitious project in business journalism,” said Inc. 5000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The Inc. 5000 gives an unrivalled portrait of young, underreported companies across all industries doing fascinating things with cutting-edge business models, as well as older companies that are still showing impressive growth.”
The 5,000 companies that made the list reported aggregate revenue of $185 billion and median three-year growth of 147 percent. Most important, the 2008 Inc. 5000 companies were engines of job growth, having created more than 826,033 jobs since those companies were founded. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and a list of the fastest-growing companies that can be sorted by industry and region can be found at www.inc5000.com.
The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based and privately held, for profit, independent — not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies — as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
