Kingfisher-Deccan Secures Government Approval for International Services

The Civil Aviation Ministry of India has grated permission to Deccan Aviation, in which Vijay Mallya-owned Kingfisher Airlines merged in 2007, to operate international services, effective August 26, 2008.
According to media sources, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has received confirmation from the ministry regarding the granting of international traffic rights to Deccan Aviation. The airline plans to operate seven flights between Bangalore and London.
Deccan Aviation will complete five years of domestic operations on August 26, 2008, which is mandatory for any Indian carrier to fly abroad.
The first flight to London is expected to start in early September 2008, using an Airbus A-330.
