California Maker of Roof-Top Wind Turbines Offers New York Mayor A Free Roof-Top Wind Turbine

On the heels of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's call to generate more power in his city with wind, a California company that makes roof-top wind turbines is offering the City of New York a free wind turbine to demonstrate that such technology exists and is ready to be deployed today.
Marquiss Wind Power, an innovator in developing and deploying roof-top wind turbine technology, today offered to deliver and set up a roof-top wind turbine in New York City.
In a letter sent this morning to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Marquiss Wind Power CEO Paul Misso said, "I applaud your vision of placing wind turbines atop buildings in New York City. The technology for such a vision exists today -- and can be implemented relatively easily with the support of government and civic leaders such as you."
Mr. Misso said some of the initial reaction to Mayor Bloomberg's idea didn't take account of the recent technology advancements in wind power. "Unfortunately, many people think of small wind turbines as not cost effective," Mr. Misso said. "In fact, the technology exists today to tap into wind power on top of roof-tops with compact, efficient and affordable wind turbines. These can work anywhere from high-rises to shopping centers."
The company's turbines are priced at $30,000 to $60,000, with a payback period of 4 to 8 years, depending on wind speed, utility rates, and available incentives.
