Bruce Hazeltine Joins GT Solar As Director of Process Development
GT Solar Incorporated, a global provider of specialized equipment and technology for the solar power industry, today announced that Bruce Hazeltine has joined the company as director of process development for its silicon group, a new role within the company. In this position, Mr. Hazeltine will undertake engineering initiatives aimed at helping customers design efficient and cost-effective Trichlorosilane (TCS) and silane gas manufacturing plants. TCS and silane are essential components of polysilicon, a key raw material utilized to produce solar cells.
“Bruce is a well-respected professional with significant expertise in the production of TCS, silane, and polycrystalline silicon,” said Dave Keck, vice president of silicon development for GT Solar. “This expertise, combined with 25 years of experience in the design and operation of chemical plants, makes Bruce a valuable addition to the GT Solar team.”
Mr. Hazeltine is the former chief engineer at Voltaix, a producer of high value specialty gases for the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries. In this role, Hazeltine was responsible for production capability, maintenance, safety, process development, and project engineering. He was also the primary architect for much of the company’s initial registration to ISO-9001-2000. Mr. Hazeltine previously served as development project manager for Velsicol Chemical Corporation, a producer of benzoic acid and related derivatives; and a development group leader for Hemlock Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Dow Corning that produces semiconductor grade polycrystalline silicon and related hyperpure chemicals. He has led development and design efforts for many first-of-a-kind production processes as well as optimization on mature processes for many of his past employers.
