Atomstroyexport Completes Work at Chernobyl Sarcophagus
MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) – ZAO Atomstroyexport has completed the operations to improve security of the Shelter facility at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the company said in a press release.
The final phase of the repair of the light roof over the central hall of Power Unit 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was destroyed in 1986, was completed in early August, that is, a month earlier than was planned.
Atomstroyexport is a leading world company engaged in constructing nuclear power plants outside Russia. The company constructed and successfully commissioned two nuclear power units, each having a capacity of over 1 GWt, in China in 2007. At the present time, the company is completing the construction of one nuclear power unit in Iran and two in India.
Atomstroyexport is controlled by the state corporation Rosatom.
