Turkish Minister Says No Delay in Nuclear Plant Tenders

Ankara, 25 August: Turkish energy minister said on Monday there was no delay on the date of bidding for the tender process on nuclear power station which was set as 24 September.
At a news conference in Ankara, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said, “We will open envelopes on 24 September because we don’t have time to waste.”
The government attached great importance to nuclear energy since it was cheap, sustainable and environmentally friendly, he stated.
Turkey plans to build a nuclear power plant with a capacity between 3,000 or 5,000 megawatts. Turkish Electricity Trading and Contracting Inc (TETAS) will sign a contract with the best bidder to buy power for at least 15 years.
