Unity Biofuels Developing Self-Blending Ethanol Fuel Dispensers

Clean energy company Unity Biofuels has announced that it is developing self-blending ethanol fuel dispensers, to help blend ethanol with gasoline directly in the pump and thus help consumers to avoid the associated blending fee, according to PetrolWorld.
Unity Biofuels is planning to launch two such self-blending pumps at service stations in Olds and Mount Pleasant in the Henry County of Ohio, US. The company expects to offer four different blends of ethanol-gasoline mix in E10, E20, E30 and E85 variants, according to the news source.
The company said that, under the Clean Air Act, regular cars can only use the E10 blend while flex-fuel cars can use all the blends.
Jason Egli, Unity Biofuels manager, as quoted by PetrolWorld, said: "This will mainly be for people with flex-fuel vehicles, but it could be for regular cars very soon. We hope this also helps promote the sales of more flex-fuel vehicles."
According to Mr Egli, since the oil companies will not be pre-blending fuel for these pumps, Unity Biofuels will be getting the blenders credit, which will actually go back to the consumers and lower the prices on the E20 and higher blends. The company is seeking to use the credit to ensure that the customer ends up paying lower prices at the pump.
