Solar Energy Industries Association to Host SUNFEST 2008 at Democratic National Convention With Keynote By Robert Kennedy, Jr.

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) will host SUNFEST 2008 during the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, August 27, from noon to 4 p.m. at Coors Field in Denver. SEIA President Rhone Resch addresses the DNCC Energy and Climate Change Symposium on Tuesday, August 26, at Roundtable III from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the Space Theater at the Denver Performing Arts Center, located at the intersection of 14th Street and Curtis Street.

The solar festival will feature a keynote address by environmental advocate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and remarks by national and local elected officials. The latest solar energy technology will be on display for the public along with live entertainment by the Chuck McDermott Band (band that performs with Bonnie Raitt) and celebrity guests.

The event is being sponsored by SEIA members, Q-Cells, Applied Materials, Sharp Solar, Standard Renewable Energy and Suntech America as well as MolsonCoors. Note that Coors Field has a 9.9-kilowatt photovoltaic (PV) system that produces enough electricity to power the ballpark's LED scoreboard. A special 18-kilowatt system was also installed by Aeon Solar with Evergreen Solar panels to help power the Convention at Pepsi Center.
