Iran, Iraq Ink Geological Pact

Tehran, 25 August: Concurrent with the 33rd International Geological Congress (IGC) in Norway, 6-14 August, the geology organizations of Iran and Iraq signed a geological and mine exploration MOU, said the Geological Survey of Iran’s director for international affairs here on Monday [25 August].

Mehr News Agency quoted Hadi Meyguni stating that Safa Fuad, the geology organization of Iraq’s deputy director visited the Iranian pavilion in the 33rd IGC and urged the expansion of mutual geological cooperation.

Meyguni added that an Iraqi delegation will pay a visit to Tehran within the next three months and will review the grounds for enforcing the MOU’s objectives.

For nine days 6,000 scientists from 113 countries have been taking part in lively discussions of the 33rd International Geology Congress regarding almost every conceivable aspect of geology.
