SunEthanol, alternative fuel technology process provider, has announced that it is collaborating with MBI International to scale-up a fermentation method for producing ethanol from non-food agricultural feedstocks.
The fermentation method utilizes SunEthanol's Q-Microbe, which reportedly digests and ferments cellulosic feedstocks to ethanol in a single-step process. Currently, MBI is actively scaling-up ammonia fiber expansion, a promising biomass pretreatment technology developed at the Michigan State University.
Sarad Parekh, vice president of research and development at SunEthanol, said: "There are several reasons we chose to partner with MBI. We were impressed by their multidisciplinary expertise, rigorous and disciplined scale-up approach, and specialized on-site pilot-plant facilities."
