Tajik, Uzbek Leaders Discuss Cooperation

This afternoon all heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization [SCO] member countries arrived in Dushanbe to attend a regular summit of this international and authoritative organization.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held talks with Uzbek President Islom Karimov in a state residence.
The meeting discussed the current state of and prospects for cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other international and regional organizations. They also discussed issues of bilateral relations.
The heads of the two neighbouring countries highly rated the role of the SCO in strengthening regional and international security as well as stability, and in expanding cooperation between the member and observer countries.
Emomali Rahmon and Islom Karimov stressed their readiness and desire to strengthen and expand good cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Tajik President Emomali Rahmon invited Uzbek President Islom Karimov to pay a state visit Tajikistan.
