Airport Faces Legal Bid Wait
Coventry Airport may have to wait until October for a decision on its legal challenge to the government’s refusal of permission for its expansion, it has emerged. West Midlands International Airport Ltd took its challenge to the High Court last week (Planning, 25 July, p6). It first submitted its plans five years ago.
But Mr Justice Forbes this week reserved his decision to give a fully considered judgement in writing at a later date. With the court’s summer vacation beginning this week and running until September, this is likely to be in October at the earliest.
The airport argues that communities secretary Hazel Blears refused permission in April last year contrary to the views of all relevant statutory bodies in the area.
