Tajik, Russian Leaders Sign Joint Statement After Talks

Dushanbe, 29 August: The presidents of Russia and Tajikistan, Dmitriy Medvedev and Emomali Rahmon, signed a joint statement of the heads of the states on the results of talks held today. Five other documents were also signed in the presence of the leaders.
In particular, an intergovernmental agreement on the mutual protection of rights to the results of intellectual work which are used and gained in the course of bilateral military and technical cooperation. Another intergovernmental agreement touches upon the establishment and activities of the Pamir-Chakaltay international science and research centre.
The two countries’ ministers of culture signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the sphere of culture, whereas representatives of the agriculture ministries signed an agreement on cooperation in the agricultural sector.
A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in developing new energy projects in Tajikistan was signed between the Inter RAO UES [Unified Energy System of Russia] and the Tajik Energy and Industry Ministry in the presence of the leaders.
