Russia Guarantees Stability in Energy Supplies to Europe

DUSHANBE. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Russia was and remains a reliable supplier of energy to Europe, regardless of the political relations between various nations, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko said on Friday.

"I think we have worked for many years to create not even an image, but a status of a reliable supplier of energy to Europe, and under no circumstances, not even political ones, should we let this status suffer," Shmatko told journalists in Dushanbe on Friday after a press conference following the talks with the Russian and Tajik presidents.

"The Druzhba (Friendship) [pipeline] has worked reliably since the Soviet times, and Russia has no plans to change this tradition," the minister said.
